Blomidon Council 918 is active in supporting many local needy organizations: D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) is an educational program for grade 5 & 6 students, and has been recently supported by Blomidon Council. We provided each student of a DARE graduating class with an enviable "T" shirt, symbolizing successful graduation of the course. The “Flowercart”, a facility which trains and employs adults labelled intellectually challenged. We donate to the “Lodge that Cares” promoting cancer awareness to members and in the community. We support “Youth in Sports”. We help plant and dig 5 to 8 thousand gladioli bulbs for the “M. Salsman Memorial Garden”, with proceeds going to help cancer patients in the local area. Each Blomidon member donates household/personal gifts annually to “Chrysalis House”, a transition house for abused women in Nova Scotia. We decorate for Christmas and wrap presents for the clients at Evergreen Home for Intellectually and/or physically handicapped youth. Once a year we visit Dykeland Lodge for seniors and donate to their birthday party on that month. We also donate time and money to other “local worthy causes” as the need arises.
